Izakaya Underbelly is preparing for an opening soon on the campus at UCSD in La Jolla. This will be Underbelly’s third location in San Diego, moving in at the former Soda and Swine space.
Led by CH Projects, Underbelly currently operates restaurants in North Park and Little Italy. Underbelly is described as a tribute to Japanese ramen houses but with a San Diego twist, highlighting our local beer offerings.
Eater reports the latest UCSD edition of Underbelly will expand their menu beyond ramen with Japanese-inspired sandos and small plates. Izakaya Underbelly will also include a full bar, specializing in Japanese whiskey.
According to a recent Craigslist posting, CH Projects is hosting a job fair on campus ahead of their opening which is expected in October 2022. Visit the Underbelly website for more information.
