James Coffee Co., an independently owned and operated small-batch coffee company from Escondido, is preparing to open a new location at 10195 Rancho Carmel Drive in Carmel Mountain Ranch.

The company’s fourth brick-and-mortar is set to move into the Rancho Carmel Plaza later this year, likely moving into the former home of Starbucks, according to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. It’s unclear when James Coffee will open this location, but it will feature the same delicious coffee options as the other three sites, which are found in Escondido, Bankers Hill, and North Park. This could be one of two locations the company is currently working on, as James Coffee’s Yelp page for its location at 2355 India Street mentions the site will reopen on August 1, 2025, although this has yet to be confirmed by What Now.

James Coffee Co. specializes in small-batch, artisan coffee, offering a rotating selection of unique single-origin beans and its own exclusive blends. Focusing on traditional roasting methods, it treats every roast as a chance to bring out the best flavors and keep the quality top-notch. From the hands that pick the coffee cherries to the roasters perfecting each batch, James Coffee Co. ensures every cup is great. All of this contributes to the company’s goal to give coffee lovers a flavorful, high-quality brew every time.

This property will be an excellent site for the company’s newest location, perfectly situated at the signalized intersection of Rancho Carmel Drive and Ted Williams Parkway, just off the I-15 freeway. The area is packed with popular retail spots, including All Day Pet Hospital, Brain Balance of San Diego, Carmel Mountain Dentistry, Hair Dynamics, Huntington Learning Center, North County Family Chiropractic, Nova Nail Spa, Oggi’s Pizza & Brewing, Quick Wok, and SalonCentric. It’s a prime spot for businesses seeking exposure and opportunities to engage with customers.
