Jay Bhavani Vadapav, a rapidly expanding Indian fast food chain, is preparing to open its first location in San Diego at 9506 Miramar Road.

The new location is set to move into the former home of SMACK’N Guamanian Grill, according to signage on the building. While an exact opening date has not been announced, the franchise owner tells What Now San Diego that they are expecting to open by the end of the month. When it opens, the restaurant will introduce San Diego customers to its signature Indian street food offerings, including vadapav, pav bhaji, and a range of South Indian specialties.

Founded in 1998 by four brothers from Rajasthan, India, Jay Bhavani Vadapav began as a small street stall in Ahmedabad. Over the past two decades, the brand has expanded to more than 150 outlets across India and Canada, growing its international footprint with a focus on fast, flavorful Indian cuisine. This San Diego debut marks the brand’s entry into the Southern California market.

The Miramar location will serve as a gateway for Jay Bhavani Vadapav to showcase its fast casual Indian street food concept to a new audience. The brand emphasizes fresh ingredients, authentic spices, and quick service as key components of its expanding business model.

Jay Bhavani Vadapav’s menu features traditional street food items such as the Ambavadi Vadapav, Dabeli, and Pav Bhaji, alongside Indo-Chinese dishes, South Indian snacks, and a selection of beverages and desserts. The restaurant offers vegetarian options and kid-friendly meals designed to appeal to a broad customer base.

Ownership remains with the founding family, who continue to oversee operations and expansion efforts. The location at 9506 Miramar Road was chosen for its visibility and proximity to a diverse demographic, positioning the restaurant to attract both residents and visitors interested in Indian cuisine.
