A new pizza place is in the works to take over the former location of Twisted Taps on the corner of Louisiana and El Cajon Blvd in North Park. Knotty Girl Pizza will join neighbors like Gilly’s Bar and The Lafayette Hotel.
Owner Mel Arce shared some tidbits about Knotty Girl with What Now San Diego via email. “I will have a few crust/style options but generally I’m shooting for classic New York City. When you walk into a pizza shop in NYC they have a variety of goodies,” shares Arce. The goodies mentioned will definitely include but won’t be limited to garlic knots.
Arce has partnered with commercial and retail design firm Crave Design Company. Together with Crave’s Sally Rodrigues, the aesthetic will be mapped out and a full makeover will take place to transform the spot to a pizza place.
In the meantime, expect everything at Knotty Girl Pizza to be done in-house, even delivery. With the high costs of service fees for third party delivery apps, it’s no surprise Knotty Girl will opt out to keep the service old school.
Details are knead-to-know at this point but Knotty Girl is planning to roll out in February 2022. Follow Knotty Girl Pizza on Facebook for progress updates.
