A brand new authentic Peruvian restaurant called Manka Peruvian Cuisine is preparing to debut early next year in Carlsbad at 3055 Harding St.

The new restaurant will move into the former home of Pollos Maria, according to a recent liquor license application. Owner Jorge Wong tells What Now San Diego that the new restaurant is expected to open hopefully by Valentine’s Day, depending on regulations and construction, the latter of which to begin soon. Wong, who already owns two Peruvian restaurants in Los Angeles, bought the property earlier this year and plans to transform the space into a beautiful authentic Peruvian restaurant.

When the new restaurant opens early next year, customers can expect a variety of gourmet Peruvian cuisine, as well as various seafood, meat, and pasta options. Manka Peruvian Cuisine will also have plenty beer and wine options. Wong tells What Now San Diego that this will be a completely new concept for the restauranteur, who also owns Mancora Peruvian Cuisine in Alhambra at 240 W. Main St.

Wong says he is hopeful for this location, noting the lack of Peruvian restaurants in the Carlsbad area. The next closest competitors for this new restaurant will be Al Toque Peruvian Kitchen in San Marcos and Q’ero Restaurant in Encinitas. Manka Peruvian Cuisine should have no problem getting new customers in its doors with the help of Village Plaza Shopping Mall next door and sitting in an area with a handful of fast-food options.
