After recently opening in UTC earlier this year, Marugame Udon is getting ready to expand to a new location in Kearny Mesa at 8330 Clairemont Mesa Blvd.
Zion Market’s upcoming summer relocation is set to bring various new dining options to the area. While Paris Baguette is the only outside vendor moving with the market, several new tenants have recently been announced, including Marugame Udon, a quick-service Japanese noodle chain that opened at Westfield UTC, according to Eater San Diego. The company’s second San Diego site and the rest of the 50,000-square-foot development are expected to open in Summer 2024.
Other new tenants announced for the new Zion Market development include Dot & Dough, Taiwanese chain Bafang Dumpling, which recently opened a new location in Mira Mesa, and Shoo Loong Kan Hot Pot, a concept from Venturant Group, which is also opening a Japanese barbecue restaurant and a boba shop near the market. Finally, a new cafe tenant specializing in Vietnamese coffee will debut in the area. Other amenities in the development include a handful of separate buildings dedicated to office space, retail, and other services, as well as a 25,000-square-foot rooftop food hall featuring a cocktail speakeasy and several internationally-focused food stalls.
When Marugame Udon opens later this year, customers can expect hand-crafted udon bowls, tempura, and beverages from a theater kitchen, allowing guests to watch as their food is prepared. The restaurant chain already has six locations in Southern California, including a new site coming soon to Irvine. Marugame Udon has five more locations in Northern California and several sites in Hawaii and Texas.
