If you’re a die-hard fan of the açai bowl but haven’t sampled the offerings of Point Loma’s Northside Shack, well, you’re doing it wrong. According to Pamela Olvera’s drink bar, they serve the best, not to mention ‘most copied’ açai bowls and smoothies in the whole world. Of course, you’ll want to taste for yourself.

And that’s probably going to get a bit easier to do. Chef Olvera hints at an expansion in Northside Shack’s most recent Instagram post, saying “Hi everyone, Pamela here with Northside Shack Point Loma in North Park and soon to be Oceanside! But I’ll talk about that some other time…”

What does this mean exactly? Well, we weren’t able to reach Chef Olvera at the time of publication, but lease intel obtained by What Now San Diego indicates Northside Shack likely signed a lease for 1940 S Freeman St. in Oceanside. Northside Shack will take over the 1,205 square foot retail space in Suite C of the building.

But back to those beverages and bowls. Northside Shack, established in 2014, specializes in custom blends and creative bowls. The drinks portion of the menu covers everything from signature blends of super greens and proteins, to custom beverages like coco chocolate, coco coffee, cherry citrus, and dragon fruit medley. And that’s only to name a few. Meanwhile, you can order up a bowl in one of three sizes, ranging 4 to 32 oz. From there you pick your choice base and toppings. The bowls are beautiful and the fruit is seasonal; what else is there to say?

We weren’t able to confirm an opening date for the Oceanside expansion, so in the meantime head to Point Loma, or follow Northside Shack on social media for updates.
