Pizza Kaiju, the well-liked pizza concept previously found at Market on 8th in National City, plans to relocate to Barrio Logan at 1985 National Avenue.

Previously, What Now San Diego reported on Market on 8th making some significant changes after a change in ownership, and one of the changes was the departure of Pizza Kaiju. The pop-up announced on social media that it was relocating but didn’t offer any additional details regarding when and where. Now it’s become a little more clear, according to SanDiegoVille. Pizza Kaiju will reopen in the former home of Attitude Brewing within Mercado del Barrio, next to Chicano Park.

It’s unclear exactly when Pizza Kaiju is expected to open, but reports suggest it can be as soon as by the end of the year. When it opens, customers can expect the same delicious New York-style and Detroit-style pizzas that are available as whole pies or slices. While the new location will be significantly larger than the Market on 8th space with 4,500 square feet, Pizza Kaiju will continue to offer its unique flavors to Barrio Logan, with pizzas such as the ube longanisa pizza, the elote pizza, and the birria pizza.

With so much additional space, Pizza Kaiju’s owners plan to open not just this concept in the space but a brand new one called Yoshuku Diner, offering a style of Western-influenced Japanese cuisine, according to SanDiegoVille. Customers can expect dishes like tonkatsu, omurice, Japanese curry, and Japanese-style pasta while having plenty of beers on tap, plus other hard beverages, such as wine and sake.
