Randy’s Donuts, the iconic Los Angeles donut shop with sites worldwide, is opening a new location in Chula Vista at 3001 Bonita Road, Suite 200.

The company’s second San Diego site is set to move into the current home of Sadie’s Handcrafted Ice Cream, according to SanDiegoVille. This is the latest from franchise owner and San Diego native Emilio Tamez, who opened the first area location in Kearny Mesa’s Stonecrest Plaza last May. He has signed an agreement to open ten locations around San Diego County in the coming years. The new Chula Vista Site is expected to open in late April.

When it opens, it will be slightly different than the other locations around the world. On top of having its selection of over 60 different donuts plus Randy’s Rounds, which are larger donut holes, this location will sell Sadie’s Handcrafted Mexican Ice Cream and Sadie’s Sandwiches, which is a fresh Randy’s donut stuffed with ice cream. The new location will sit between an Orthodontist and Taquería Revolución, down the street from Westfield Plaza Bonita Shopping Mall.

Randy’s Donuts was founded in 1952 under salesman Russell Wendell, who sold the business to Mark Kelegian, a Los Angeles-area entrepreneur and former attorney, in 2015 to franchise the concept with his family. The company began franchising in Summer 2019 and has since expanded throughout the world with locations in Las Vegas, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and more. San Diego can expect to see at least eight more locations open around the city in the next few years.
