Earlier this year, What Now San Diego covered Harumama Noodles & Buns’ expansion to Encinitas. The eatery is known for its very adorable and quite Instagrammable ‘character buns’ as well as its modern take on traditional Japanese recipes. Already, Harumama has three locations in the SD area, in Little Italy, La Jolla, and Carlsbad. Encinitas, which according to Harumama’s website will open in winter 2021, would be the fourth.

And now it appears Harumama is expanding once more—this time to Ocean Beach.

Harumama will open its fifth location at 4741 Voltaire St. in San Diego. Permit intel obtained by What Now San Diego shows an application has been filed for the address. According to the application, the new spot is 2,410 square-feet in size. Harumama Ocean Beach is aiming to open by the end of this year.

The buns are really something—they come in very adorable animal characters like pigs, cows, chickens, even polar bears, and each character has its own filling. But the buns only some of what Harumama’s menus boast. The locations have dinner and lunch menus, all slightly different and on which you can find small bites, ramen, sushi, and more. An array of sake, beer, wine, and soju are available as well.

Check out Harumama’s website and, of course, social media for more information.
