The word is out: one of San Diego’s leading hospitality groups Consortium Holdings has a new speakeasy project in the works at 777 G Street in East Village.
What Now San Diego reached out to Arsalun Tafazoli about what’s in store, but he declined to comment on any specifics. Tafazoli said that, since they are still in an early stage of development, the name has not been finalized.
While SanDiegoVille.com reported that the concept would be called “Young Blood,” Tafazoli did not confirm this to be fact. Details are being kept firmly under wraps by the ownership.
Consortium Holdings has worked on an array of upscale dining rooms and bars around San Diego, including North Park’s Fortunate Son Chinese restaurant, False Idol tiki/speakeasy bar and Raised by Wolves spirit shop and cocktail bar in La Jolla.
Tafazoli founded Consortium Holdings in 2007 with the hope of elevating San Diego’s restaurant scene. At this point, most local foodies would agree that he has succeeded. Consortium Holdings outlined their mission statement on their website:
“We’re not interested in trends, importing or recreating another city’s ethos, or becoming “the next big” anything; our vision is neither rented nor revolutionary. Our goal is deceptively simple: to contribute to the dynamic and culture of the city, elevate communication, and cultivate memorable experiences.”
