The Alley’s first and long-awaited location in San Diego’s Clairemont Mesa neighborhood is finally set to open. What Now San Diego originally shared the news last summer, while new local spots continue to pop up around San Diego.

Co-franchisee Lam Nguyen shares with What Now San Diego that his group is due to reveal the new location of The Alley at Balboa Mesa Shopping Center on August 6th. Nguyen also confirms a recent permit filing places their second local spot in College Area.

The Alley will join the brand new Topaz Apartments, a mixed-use development currently in construction near San Diego State University. The Alley will mix into the ground-unit retail space alongside Jimmy John’s and Dunkin Donuts, and Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream.

The Taiwanese brand is making waves in the boba tea space, with its social-media-worthy drinks with signature “Deerioca” brown sugar boba pearls. Their menu offers a variety of milk teas, refreshing fruit teas, coffee drinks, and paired with their “Croffle” to munch on (part croissant, part waffle).

The Alley is also expected to open another franchise-owned location at Westfield UTC this summer. Franchisee Tony Nguyen signed a three-unit agreement with The Alley to expand its local mall presence, kicking off with Westfield UTC, then eyeing Fashion Valley down the road.

An opening for The Alley at SDSU’s College Area is unclear, as Topaz Apartments is due to be completed by Fall 2023. Get to know The Alley by following on Instagram
