This is the latest from San Diego restaurateur Johnny Rivera, according to a recent liquor license application that was first reported by SanDiegoVille. The Lake Poet will be located in a historic Mission Hills building that formerly housed Powers Plumbing, a family-run business operating at that corner since 1923. A Type 41 beer and wine license is currently pending for the space, signaling a neighborhood-friendly spot.
Rivera is best known locally for his innovative brunch spots, Hash House A Go Go and The Great Maple, as well as the intimate, desert-inspired Wolf in the Woods. While details about The Lake Poet remain under wraps, Rivera’s reputation suggests a thoughtfully crafted dining experience with a unique atmosphere.
Although there are no specifics about this concept, the restaurant’s name hints at a poetic and contemplative theme, possibly reflecting Rivera’s flair for storytelling through food and ambiance.
