Following the recent closure after 30 years in La Jolla, The Living Room has officially reopened in a new spot, located at 1205 Prospect Street.
Owner Sam Azzu originally opened the La Jolla coffeehouse at 1010 Prospect Street before announcing last month that the eatery would close on Christmas Day and reopen on January 1, two blocks north on the base floor of the Manchester Financial Building, replacing Covo La Jolla, according to SanDiegoVille. While The Living Room has officially reopened, many more features remain to be unveiled, including a full dinner menu and a live music-fueled speakeasy.
The new location on Prospect Street is about four times the size of the previous site, featuring an enormous kitchen. As a result, Azzu has decided to use the space to introduce more breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. The additional space also allows ownership to eventually open a new speakeasy-like bar called The Living Room Lounge. Customers can expect a whiskey-heavy menu and frequent live music performances, including jazz and open mic nights.
The La Jolla Living Room is the company’s second location, following its debut near SDSU on Thanksgiving Day in 1991. Since expanding to La Jolla in 1993, Azzu has opened new locations in Old Town and Rancho San Diego. All three locations offer welcoming environments resembling a classic bistro and are perfect spots for anyone looking to study and get a quick snack, cup of tea, or coffee.
