TNT Pizza, a pandemic-born pop-up with a brick-and-mortar in East Village, is opening a new location in Chula Vista at 221 Third Avenue.

The company’s second site will move into the former home of Attitude Brewing Company on Third Avenue. The TNT Pizza team, which includes Joseph Ghafori Wehrly and Kevin Gist, has signed a lease with longtime Chula Vista developer Alan Cassell to take over the 2,500-square-foot unit in the heart of Chula Vista, according to SanDiegoVille. Gist tells What Now San Diego that they are at the hands of the city waiting on permits, but hope to open this new location around June 2024.

The founders started the company as a weekly pop-up in April 2020, taking pre-orders for their rotating pizza styles and frequently selling out. A year later, TNT Pizza opened its first brick-and-mortar location in the space that previously housed Alpha Pizza, offering a variety of different styles of pizza, including sourdough Detroit, New York, grandma-style, and bar-style pizzas by the slice and whole pie, with vegan options available.

When the pizza shop opens later this year, it will sit in a busy area full of other businesses and residential communities. While there are plenty of food choices in the downtown Chula Vista area, there are only a few pizza options, including La Bella Pizza and Domino’s Pizza. The new TNT Pizza will sit near Friendship Park, Memorial Park, and the Chula Vista Public Library Civic Center Branch.
