The Lafayette Hotel, Swim Club & Bungalows in North Park is in the process of a major revamp that will shut down regular hotel operations to make way for new on-site bars and eateries. Eater shared a sneak peek of the seven new concepts planned and in progress at the 1940s era boutique hotel.

The $26 million project will transform underused facilities at the site, as well as former restaurants and bars, into eye-catching luxury gathering spaces.

CH Projects owner Arsalun Tafazoli is collaborating on the massive overhaul of The Lafayette alongside Brooklyn based design firm Post Company, architect Tucker Sadler, and local contracting firm CLTVT. Tafazoli is reportedly planning to reside at the hotel to oversee all aspects of the project throughout its progression.

If you’ve recently driven past the grand columns of the historic hotel, you may have noticed some work in progress at the former site of the Red Fox Room and Steakhouse. While the Red Fox relocated just down the street on El Cajon Blvd, what remains of the original restaurant is in the process of being transformed into a Oaxacan-style Mexican restaurant.

Other on-site projects include a 24-hour diner, a vintage bowling alley and parlor, music venue, private dining room for chef-hosted events, and an updated poolside lounge for day swimmers and Lafayette Swim Club members.

CH Projects will reportedly shut down operations on October 1st for an unspecified amount of time in order to make headway on interior construction. The updates are projected to complete in Spring 2023. For more information on The Lafayette Hotel and Swim Club, visit their Website
