Victorino’s Pizzeria, a family-owned restaurant located in Chula Vista at 3047 Bonita Road, Suite 107, is getting ready to rebrand this summer with the help of a professional boxer.

Founded by Victor Lopez after a 2022 trip to New York City, the goal was to bring authentic NYC-style pizza to the San Diego area. He worked closely with a New York-based pizza expert to perfect the crust and menu. Now the business owner is partnering with none other than former heavyweight boxing champion Andy Ruiz Jr. to rebrand the company to rebrand Victorino’s Pizzeria into Andy’s Pizzeria, according to the company’s social media. Those who attend the grand opening ceremony on July 10, 2025, will get a chance to meet Ruiz Jr. and enter a raffle.

“On July 10, Victorinos Pizzeria will be rebranding to a new name called Andy’s Pizzeria,” according to the company’s social media. “Whoever doesn’t know Andy, he’s a professional Mexican heavyweight boxer and former champion. The first Mexican heavyweight champion ever! Andy is a very humble, God fearing man and that is the sole reason why I was able to work w him. Victorinos will still be open meanwhile, but come July 10, it will be Andy’s PIZZA. That day, Andy Ruiz Jr. will be here. We will have some raffles, he will be here taking pictures with all, and signing some autographs. If the mall permits, we will have a DJ and some more exciting things to come! The inside will be remodeled to his likin,d making it more of a boxing theme. Please help share this and hope we see y’all here.”

Andy Ruiz Jr., a Mexican-American boxer, made history in 2019 by becoming the first heavyweight world champion of Mexican descent after defeating Anthony Joshua. Born in Imperial, California, he began boxing at age seven and turned professional at 19, compiling a 35-2-1 record with 22 knockouts. His upset win at Madison Square Garden earned him the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO titles. After poor preparation, Ruiz lost the rematch later that year, leading to a trainer change and a brief comeback in 2021. He is currently inactive and considered retired, though he has hinted at a possible return. Until then, the professional boxer will try his hand in the restaurant industry with the opening of Andy’s Pizzeria.
