Wing connoisseurs, rejoice! Wicked Chicken is headed to San Diego. The independent chicken restaurant will add its third location in East Village, replacing the now-closed Corner Chicken on Ninth Avenue

Wicked Chicken currently operates two locations, one in Santa Clara and another in Santa Clarita. Co-founder Matt McClean introduced Wicked Chicken in 2011 after moving up the ranks at his job at a wing spot near Santa Clara University and eventually taking over operations.

Co-owner Matt Reeser tells What Now San Diego he teamed up with his college friend McClean in 2019 to open another outpost of Wicked Chicken in Santa Clarita.

Now Reeser is looking to scale the model and expects to grow the brand with 25 corporate-operated locations in the next four years. Reeser explains their wheelhouse is serving premium chicken and craft beer, making San Diego an obvious choice for their latest location of Wicked Chicken.

Their menu offers chicken wings, tenders, and sandwiches, with proprietary sauces ranging in spice levels up to Death, Thermo, and Nuclear. Reeser shares their most popular option is their Atomic sauce and their hook line is, “one bite is all it takes.” Wing connoisseurs are sure to appreciate their 2 oz wings, a heftier portion than most wing chains offer.

Wicked Chicken is expected to open in East Village by March 2023. Get to know the menu at Wicked Chicken by visiting their website and follow their Facebook page for more.
