Fresh off of its debut in Pacific Beach, Yum Zab! is already looking into expanding to more locations in San Diego.
Owners Klin and Ai Sritong recently opened the restaurant in the former home of Rhythm’s Chicken and Waffles and are already planning to expand, considering South Park for its next location, according to Eater San Diego. Rhythm’s Chicken & Waffles closed this March and has since rebranded to Mom’s Chicken & Waffles in North Park in the former home of U-31 Cocktail Lounge. There is no timeline for the new location, as owners plan to focus on the first site for the time being.
When the owners find a home for its second location, it will offer a variety of fried chicken and poke bowl options, such as spicy Korean fried chicken rice bowl, steamed Hainanese chicken with ginger rice, a Korean fried chicken sandwich, and more. Some of the most popular items include the Seoul Nashville Fried chicken rice bowl, real Thai iced tea, and honey aioli crispy shrimp.
Owner Klin Sritong comes from a family of restaurateurs, including his brother Krit and his mother, who operate Charm Thai Kitchen in Rancho Bernardo. He and his wife will focus on the Pacific Beach location before looking for new sites, but expect to search in the South Park area. No matter where the restaurant lands, South Park is becoming a high-demand dining destination with plenty of new and exciting options, so the Yum Zab! should have no problem getting customers in its doors.
