Born out of the restrictions the covid pandemic has placed on us all, Samira Sadeghlou’s PlanterSam has brought much light, sunlight that is, to San Marcos.  Alongside her husband, Morteza, and her mother who masterminds the store’s macramé, Sadeghlou has been running a pop-up plant shop on the weekends that’s grown in popularity since it became official last year.

The nursery and gardening store offers house plants, cacti, and succulents as well as an array of planters and plant-related décor, all of which are curated by a “plant rescuer [turned] big time plant mama.”

According to the company’s website, Sadeghlou has always found sanctuary in spending time with plants. “Taking care of my plants made me feel better about myself as a person and gave me a sense of belonging,” she writes. And now that sanctuary will open as a permanent brick-and-mortar in San Marcos.

For the last week PlanterSam has been dropping hints across its social media channels and just one day ago, finally confirmed, “it’s exciting to think we will have our very own shop soon🥳 We couldn’t have done this without all of you, thank you for helping us make this happen❤️❤️”

PlanterSam will open in Suite C of 700 S Rancho Santa Fe Road in a 1,175 square-foot retail space. The company’s lease will start next month.

This means Sadeghlou’s goal of building community through plants is only becoming realer. Follow PlanterSam’s social media for continued updates.
