The Fillmore Jazz Festival is one of the most treasured San Francisco festivals. The festival is now set to return July 5–6, 2025, after an earlier cancellation announced at the Fillmore Merchants Association’s April 2 meeting due to mounting costs and outstanding debt. Thanks to a groundswell of community support and nonprofit backing, the festival will once again take over the historic Fillmore Street.
Highlights
- Fillmore Jazz Festival will take place in San Francisco on July 5 & 6, 2025.
- The weekend will feature live music, local art, food vendors, and a vibrant community atmosphere.
- The event has been made possible by Avenue Greenlight and is free and open to the public.
Fillmore Jazz Festival is Back After All Challenges
At the beginning of April 2025, the Fillmore Merchant Association announced that the Fillmore Jazz Festival is postponed until next year. The financial burden and overwhelming costs on the association led to the decision.
However, a philanthropic organization, Avenue Greenlight, stepped in for support. The association also received commitments from District 2 & District 5 Supervisors Stephen Sherrill and Bilal Mahmood. As the finances got sorted, the announcement for the return of the festival this year was made on April 7, 2025.
What to Expect at Fillmore Jazz Festival 2025
The 2025 edition of the Fillmore Jazz Festival will once again transform Fillmore Street in San Francisco into a lively cultural space. On June 30, 2025, an official announcement about the festival was made. The announcement confirmed the festival will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. across both days. The entry is completely free for attendees.
There will be a total of 5 stages across 12 blocks on which performances of approximately 250 musicians are expected. The fest will be a blend of art, soul, pottery, and more! A mix of 200 businesses will take part in the festival. The theme of the 2025 festival is “Lift Every Voice.” It is inspired by the black national anthem and remains a powerful symbol of their pride and perseverance.
