Fiery Hot Pot Buffet is a popular dining spot for San Francisco residents. This place serves finger-licking meat and spicy sauces, along with unlimited soda. The restaurant has been ordered to remain temporarily closed.

A routine health inspection conducted at the restaurant unveiled that the food safety code is not followed diligently. The inspecting officer issued the closure notice that has to be followed by the food business operator.

Violations Observed at Fiery Hot Pot Buffet During Inspection

Food safety manager certification and a food handler card are a must for a food business. The inspecting officer found that the facility lacks certified persons. Therefore, the restaurant has been asked to obtain a dedicated 5-year food safety manager. A food worker who spends the most time at this facility has to register for a class and exam.

Upon the arrival of the inspecting officer, it was observed that no sanitizer solution was readily available. The officer asked the employees to prepare a standard sanitizing solution and sanitize all food contact surfaces.

The report mentions that the operator tried to unclog the main drain pipe upon the arrival of the inspection officer, and food preparation was ongoing. A bad sewage smell was detected in the back of the kitchen, and the operator did not want the inspector to flush one of the toilets.

The operator was asked to ensure the elimination of sewage backflow into the facility. All areas contaminated with sewage have to be cleaned and sanitized with a bleach solution (1 cup bleach per 9 cups water). All contaminated food items must be discarded, as per the report.

The officer noticed dead roaches on the floor behind/under the cooling units in the storage room and other areas of the facility. A cockroach egg casing was observed directly on the deli slicer located within the kitchen. There is zero tolerance for insect infestation. Therefore, the restaurant is asked to eliminate and control all rodent and insect infestations.

The restaurant has to cease its operations until it fixes the issues brought up in the inspection. The inspection report mentions that the facility has to be professionally cleaned and that extra pest control service is needed. The main line has to be inspected and repaired by a plumber.

The restaurant has to maintain documentation of all the corrective services. They have to email the inspecting officer regarding updates to schedule a re-inspection. After that, the restaurant can resume its operations.
