The San Francisco health department conducted several health inspections on December 9 in the area. Among them, Ramen Hiroshi was cited for several violations, including improper holding temperatures, mold, and grease accumulation.

Ramen Hiroshi is a Japanese restaurant serving Gyoza, Chicken Karaage, and Tonkotsu Ramen According to the inspection report, the restaurant was reported for not being in compliance with the health code, which resulted in temporary closure pending corrections. Some of the violations are:
- The report stated that any food items found outside safe temperature ranges must be discarded by the person in charge.
- The ice storage compartment of the basement ice machine reported mold-like growth.
- Rodent droppings were observed throughout the facility, including:
- Behind the draft beer canister located next to the POS front counter.
- On the floor between the upper kitchen food prep sink and the metal food prep table.
- Behind the 2-doors beverage fridge located behind the POS front counter.
- On the bottom shelf of a metal prep table adjacent to 2 doors beverage fridge located behind the front POS counter.
- On the floor next to the metal-wired shelving located on the right of the fryer.
- On the floor to the left of the grill top.
- On the ledge of the downstairs case next to the spray foam.
- On the bottom shelf of a wooden shelf storing a bamboo chopstick holder located in the bottom eating area.
- On the floor of a storage space to the right of the walk-in fridge.
- On the floor where two grease bins are stored, and located opposite the walk-in fridge.
- On the floor behind the metal rack shelves located in the basement’s dry storage area.
- Underneath the water heater located in the basement food prep area.
- The report said both dead and live cockroaches were found in the facility:
- Dead roaches were found on the floor underneath the 3-compartment sinks
- Dead roaches were seen on the glue board located underneath the food prep sink, located opposite the grill area in the front kitchen area, empty roach egg casings, and roach droppings inside the unused two-door fridge’s compartment of a metal prep table located in the middle of the basement’s kitchen food prep area.
- Live roaches were discovered inside an unused two-door fridge’s compartment located in the basement’s kitchen prep area, with bulk alcohol drink boxes stored on top of it.
- The report noted a squished cockroach on a bulk sake box in the basement kitchen.

- The report said a can of “Raid” household pesticide was found stored near bulk sauce containers in the basement kitchen.
- The report noted grease buildup on the exhaust hood filters above the fryer. There was also a leak from the condenser unit dripping into a metal bowl in the walk-in fridge.
- A cracked outlet face beneath a prep table was also identified as a potential vermin entry point.

Follow-up Inspection

According to the official report, the restaurant is expected to correct all the major violations by December 16, ahead of the reinspection. All pest infestations must be addressed according to the licensed pest control service’s guidance. The eatery is also expected to deep-clean the facility, including all cooking equipment and hard-to-reach places.
