On November 20, Taylor Street Coffee Shop was cited for sanitation issues and health code violations by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. According to the official inspection report, the violations include:
- During a routine health inspection, the official report found 3 live adult cockroaches on a glue trap under the front service counter near the dishwasher and on the shelves of the entrance to the back room
- The inspection report observed 2 glue traps filled with dead cockroaches under the dishwasher and on the floor next to the water heater.
- 3 live adult cockroaches were noted on the electrical conduit running along the cabinets above the coffee station. A live adult cockroach was found on the shelf above the cash register.
- The official report advised the facility to eliminate the cockroach infestation using approved pest control methods.

- The inspection report stated that the facility was storing sausage at 60°F and 51°F in the top section of the prep cooler.
- The sausage had been cooked three hours earlier and was left on top of the cooler to cool down. Potentially hazardous foods are required to be stored from 135°F to 70°F within 2 hours, then from 70°F to 41°F within 4 hours.

Follow-Up inspection

As a result of the violations, the cafe’s health permit was suspended, and it was temporarily closed. Taylor Street Coffee Shop is required to fix all the issues mentioned in the official report, eliminate the cockroach infestation, and clean and sanitize the whole facility before the reinspection.
The coffee shop can request a follow-up inspection within 15 days and is required to pay additional fees. Until then, the issued closure notice must remain on display at all times.
The coffee shop must pass a reinspection to have its health permit reinstated. Compliance will be evaluated during that inspection.
