Several health code violations were observed at the Chinese restaurant, including rodent and cockroach activity. The on-site inspector observed rodent activity and juvenile cockroaches in the facility.

In the basement, the inspector found rodent droppings on the wall near the dry storage. Rodent gnaw marks were found on potatoes, which were discarded during the inspection. The inspector observed 15 cockroaches in the warewashing area.

Apart from these, a hand cart was obstructing the ware washing room’s hand wash sink. There were no paper towels in the hand-wash sink during the inspection. The ware washing machine produced no sanitizer during active washing. The sanitizing bucket in the prep room contained insufficient sanitizer.

Inspectors observed a mold-like substance inside the ice machine. The inspectors also noted food stored directly on the floors of the kitchen, elevator, hallway, and prep room. They also found heavy grime buildup on the fan guards and shelves in the walk-in. Cardboard and aluminium foil were used to line all the shelves, including the ones in the walk-in.

Follow-Up Inspection

Little Szechuan must correct all noted violations before requesting a reinspection. The restaurant may reopen upon receiving clearance. Management also has the option to appeal the closure by requesting a hearing within 15 days.
