Dancing Yak, known for its authentic Nepali cuisine and craft cocktails, was shut down following a report of unsanitary conditions, including evidence of pests.
The inspectors noted a cockroach crawling on the wall in the food preparation area above and between the two prep coolers. They observed two live cockroaches on the tubing above the three-compartment sink and saw one cockroach fall into the three-compartment sink.
There were multiple live cockroaches under the laminated ware washing instruction poster, right above the three-compartment sink. The report mentioned multiple rodent droppings on top of various food container lids in the dry storage area and a cabinet at the bar.
The restaurant has been asked to submit proof of a pest control report. Inspectors noted that the handwash station next to the ice machine lacked paper towels. The handwash sink adjacent to the cook’s line was seen in complete disrepair.
The health inspectors noted that the restaurant used plastic containers in ice baths to rapidly cool Potentially Hazardous Food. A soiled knife was stored with clean utensils on a magnetic strip, according to the report.
The restaurant was asked to sanitize, repair the handwash sink, and deep clean the facility. A more detailed report is available online.
Follow-Up Inspection
While some violations were corrected on-site, the health department has asked the restaurant to address the remaining issues. Dancing Yak also had its health permit suspended. The restaurant can request a reinspection once the noted violations are resolved.
