Bringing Jordanian flavors to the heart of the city, Popstar Shawarma became a known eating spot to the San Francisco crowd. Its shawarma meal varieties, along with other Middle Eastern dishes, brought in authentic flavors to the heart of San Francisco. In a routine inspection round conducted this Wednesday, the 6th Street-based restaurant demonstrated non-compliance with many guidelines of the department. As a result, Popstar Shawarma was asked to close temporarily.

Due to multiple health violations, the San Francisco Department of Public Health issued a ‘closure’ order for Popstar Shawarma. Based on this, the shawarma-selling restaurant has to cease operations instantly.
Out of the three most emphasized violations, inspectors particularly talked about the issue of dead cockroaches in food containers and food prep sinks at Popstar Shawarma. Plus, during the routine inspection, the San Francisco Department of Public Health found that the restaurant’s staff did not use sanitizer.
The officials also pointed out that Popstar Shawarma was placing raw meat on top of ready-to-eat items. Additionally, the San Francisco Department of Public Health observed paint cans and vermin powder in the food prep area.

Based on the final report by the San Francisco Department of Health, both JT Restaurant Catering and Popstar Shawarma have been ordered to stop their operations temporarily. The inspectors have asked both San Francisco-based restaurants to request a hearing within 15 days of the report.
On failing to request the hearing, the health inspectors at the San Francisco Department of Health would view it as a waiver of its right to a hearing.
