An exciting new American-Hawaiian fusion restaurant is coming to Westwood Park.

It’s called Gold Yard and it will be opening up later this year at 1422 Ocean Avenue. Replacing the recently shuttered Mayflower Restaurant that used to occupy the space, Gold Yard promises to offer a premium dining experience that fuses American and Hawaiian styled BBQ.

The news of this opening is a welcome story to Westwood Park residents who were sad to lose the Mayflower. The Mayflower served the community for over two decades on Ocean Avenue and became a favorite spot for many locals. Famous for its Vietnamese brunch, the loss of the Mayflower was a significant blow to the community, who were now facing a serious dearth of premium restaurants in their neighborhood.

Thankfully, Gold Yard is gearing up to open its doors to that very community. Gold Yard owner Fanny Deng spoke with What Now San Francisco about the upcoming plans for her restaurant, though she was not at liberty to share too many details.

Deng, who is a first-time restaurant owner, only acquired the lease very recently and is still in the process of remodeling the restaurant. She confirmed that Gold Yard will be fusing traditional American and Hawaiian BBQ dishes but clarified that the menu has yet to be finalized. While she is hoping to launch the restaurant later this year, she is too early into the planning process to confirm her intended timeline.
