Al Carajo plans to open its debut brick-and-mortar location in late October at 3224 1/2 22nd St, according to Tablehopper. However, as Chef-Owner Javier León is still waiting on an alcohol license, the restaurant will not be fully operational until early 2023. Before the Mission District spot, León has been serving his Yucatecan and seasonally inspired plates out of a food truck.
The menu includes Yucatecan classics like panucho, a “flash-fried tortilla stuffed with black beans, chicken tinga, lettuce, tomato, pickled red onions, avocado, and black pepper” and salbute, a “puffy, flash-fried tortilla with traditional poc-chuc (pork marinated in traditional Yucatecan marinade), pickled onions, avocado, and tomato salsa.” It also offers seafood plates, tacos, burritos, and quesadillas.
According to Tablehopper, the hours will be from 7 am to 2 pm from Sunday through Thursday and until a flexible 9 pm Friday and Saturday.
What Now San Francisco briefly reached out to León, but he was unable to provide further comment.
