Back A Yard Caribbean Grill previously closed their Market Street location in downtown San Jose, but those who used to frequent this spot will be pleased to know they are coming back to the area! According to a pending beer and wine license application found in state public records, Back A Yard Caribbean Grill will open at 457 E. San Carlos St. on the eastern edge of San Jose State University.

Co-Owner Annetta Simpson has confirmed this relocation, telling What Now San Francisco that although they don’t have a set opening date at the moment, they will hopefully be open by this spring. Until then, they are busy preparing everything for the new restaurant, all while seamlessly operating their five other locations.

For almost 20 years, the local family-owned business has been the Bay Area’s destination restaurant for the best Caribbean and American food. Their best-selling Jerk Chicken & Beef Oxtail combo plate has hooked customers from the very beginning, while other dishes like Curried Goat, Barbecue Spareribs, and Vegetarian Jerk Tofu kept them coming back for more.

Back A Yard also carries their own line of sauces and rubs available for purchase at every restaurant. Until the new downtown SJ location is up and running, you can visit them at Menlo Park, San Jose Capitol, North San Jose, or Campbell. For more information, visit backayard.net.
