According to a recently submitted permit application, the shuttered concept Nuevo Sol in Berkeley is reopening under new ownership — and will be renamed Taqueria Sol.

At 1335 San Pablo Avenue, the eatery neighbors establishments such as Dog Haus Biergarten, REI, and Super Super Pho.

What Now San Francisco reached out to the concept’s new owner, Pedro Morales, to inquire about the transition, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

Berkeley residents may remember Nuevo Sol for its breakfast platters — think chilaquiles, chorizo potato pancakes, and huevos divorciados — and lunch options such as flautas, enchiladas, and burritos.

While it’s unclear how the menu will change, drawing from the concept’s new name, tacos will likely remain a main offering.

An opening date has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for updates.
