As Bonita Taqueria Y Rottiserie puts the finishing touches on their expansion on Chestnut Street, owner JJ Sweidan confirms that a third location is already in the works for 2022. Bonita is coming to 2227 Polk St. in Russian Hill, taking over the former House Rules that closed down last summer.
Though he could not give a firm date for opening, Sweidan says he hopes that everything will be ready in the earlier half of next year. They’ve just begun the permitting phases of this new project, bracing themselves for any delays caused by the pandemic and other external factors.
Sweidan does say that Bonita’s Russian Hill location should mirror those at the Castro and the Marina. They will have a dining room that can sit around 50 guests at a time and will serve the same delicious tacos, burritos, rotisserie chicken, and other mouthwatering Tex-Mex fare.
While the Castro location is currently the only one that serves brunch, Sweiden says he expects to implement this menu at all locations in the future. But first, there’s still plenty of work to be done on the Marina location and the upcoming Russian Hill location. For updates, visit sfbonita.com.
