Bubb’s Bagels & Coffee is a new café opening at 1606 Holmes St. in Livermore. Owner Davis Gunderson confirms that his family-owned business is scheduled to open at the beginning of January. Bubb’s will sell fresh-made New York style bagels alongside their full-service coffee bar from an undisclosed local roaster.
Prior to his current career in healthcare, Gunderson has worked his way up the chain for 11 years at Whole Foods. A lifelong retirement goal of opening a coffee shop, combined with his desire to get back into the food service industry, is what inspired him to open Bubb’s Bagels & Coffee.
“We’re excited to bring great bagels and coffee to Livermore. We’ve been looking forward to doing something good for our community, from using locally sourced ingredients to supporting our employees,” Gunderson tells What Now San Francisco. He will be operating Bubb’s with his wife and has plans to hire a small support staff.
Gunderson describes the Bubb’s aesthetic as “Santa Cruz without the beach,” explaining that he is aiming for a simple and fresh look to welcome future customers. The 1,288 square-foot space is still currently under construction at The Well at Sunset, located on the corner of Holmes St. and Concannon Blvd.
