Creekside Grill, the only restaurant inside Rossmoor in Walnut Creek, is set to close temporarily in early 2026 for renovations at 1001 Golden Rain Road.
The closure will last several weeks as the restaurant undergoes major updates, including potential upgrades to bar and kitchen equipment, dining room furniture, and design elements. Rossmoor’s board approved up to $625,000 for tenant improvements, signaling a significant investment in the property. Current operator Stan Gedeon, who has run Creekside Grill since 2010, will depart, and Rodney Worth will take over operations once renovations are complete. Customers can expect refreshed interiors, improved amenities, and continued dining service under an experienced local operator.
Worth brings a strong track record to the space, operating multiple area restaurants including The Little Pear in Walnut Creek, Peasant’s Courtyard in Alamo, Peasant & The Pear in Danville, and Bourbon Pear in Livermore. He is also an executive chef, offering hands-on management and culinary experience that aligns with Rossmoor residents’ preferences. The board emphasized that the upgrades and new operator are intended to enhance food service offerings, which surveys and focus groups show are a top priority for the community.
The renovations follow a 2024 food and beverage study conducted by Newport Beach-based Synergy Restaurant Consultants, which included focus groups and surveys to assess Rossmoor residents’ expectations for dining and casual gathering spaces. Proposed improvements are intended to accommodate informal coffee service, casual meals, and small group gatherings, restoring amenities similar to those lost during the COVID pandemic.
Creekside Grill’s renovation plan reflects Rossmoor’s commitment to maintaining high-quality dining as a central community feature. Upgrades to the kitchen, bar, and dining area are expected to modernize the space while preserving its role as a social hub within the community.
This will be an excellent opportunity for Creekside Grill to refresh its offerings and introduce Rodney Worth’s experienced management to Rossmoor residents. While change can be difficult, the board anticipates that the new operator and improved facilities will deliver a positive experience for both longtime patrons and new customers.
