Crustacean, an “upscale, Indochina-themed venue” owned by Chef Helene An, is moving from its address on Polk Street to a new, 5,686-square-foot space currently under construction at 191 Pine Street.
The eatery is operated by Helene An’s restaurant group House of An —led by CEO Elizabeth An — which is also behind the Vietnamese restaurant Thanh Long and the fast-casual concept AnQi Shaken & Stirred.
Best known for its signature dishes like garlic noodles and whole-roasted Dungeness crab, the Crustacean menu also offers miso-glazed boneless short rib, cellophane noodles, and royal tiger prawns — as well as an assortment of desserts and an expansive drink and wine list.
According to a recent permit application, the space will offer 145 seats in the dining room and nine at the bar. JH2 Architects will manage the design and “the aesthetic mode will be ‘modern and clean,'” according to the San Francisco Business Times.
Kenneth Lew of House of An shares that Crustacean on Pine Street will open before the end of the year.
