Cultivar has opened its newest restaurant in Sausalito, strengthening its presence in the Bay Area. The restaurant aims to bridge San Francisco with the slopes of Napa Valley and is located in a renovated historic building. Cultivar Sausalito offers a culinary and beverage program that is fresh, innovative, and garden-to-table.
Cultivar Opens Its Newest Location in Sausalito
Cultivar’s collection of wine brands, restaurants, and retail has been known since it was founded in 2009. Now, it is growing its presence with the opening of its newest location in San Francisco. It marks a new journey for the brand, as this is the largest location officially opened by Cultivar.
Located at 690 Bridgeway, Cultivar Sausalito is taking over the historic Hotel Sausalito, built in 1915. The building has been renovated to offer a fresh appearance that welcomes guests to an exciting dining experience. The redesign blends rustic warmth with modern details, such as steel and brass accents.
The dining room features a mix of high-top tables and plush, elevated booth seating. An oversized olive tree at the entrance immediately sets the tone for a wine country experience. A 20-seat bar and a large outdoor patio overlooking the waterfront and Viña del Mar Park add to the space’s charm.

The Culinary and Beverage Program at Cultivar Sausalito
The kitchen across all Cultivar locations is led by Executive Chef Matthew Curry. The menu at Cultivar Sausalito highlights seasonal, estate-grown ingredients, including olive oil and wildflower honey. The kitchen features a Valoriani wood-fired oven from Tuscany as the centerpiece, used to prepare artisanal pizzas and roasted dishes.
The menu features the craftsmanship of Chef Curry and those working alongside him. Chef de Cuisine Justin Bruckert and Pastry Chef Candace Rowan also bring their experience to the table.
Together they present a menu that includes:
- Starters like shishito peppers, empanadas, and house-made meatballs.
- Fresh salads and seafood dishes.
- Six wood-fired pizzas.
- House-made pastas and risotto.
- Entrées include whole branzino, grilled pork chop, and the Caspar Burger.
- Seasonal desserts such as olive oil cake and gianduja torte.
The beverage program follows a garden-to-glass approach that uses fresh ingredients and house-made syrups. A list of non-alcoholic options is also available for guests to choose from. The wine list showcases Cultivar and Caspar Estate wines, available by the glass, by the bottle, or as tasting flights.
The restaurant serves dinner daily starting at 5 p.m. and will launch happy hour and lunch services in the coming months. Parking is available across the street for guests arriving at the restaurant.
About Cultivar
Cultivar operates an organic vineyard and culinary garden and produces estate-grown olive oil and honey. Founded in 2009, it is rooted in the Napa Valley legacy of Caspar and Virginia Escher. The brand’s roots are traced back to the grandparents of siblings Gingy Harris Gable and Jody Harris, who purchased the Napa Valley estate in 1958.
The family vineyard quickly grew into an organic estate. It is this presence that is reflected in the new Sausalito restaurant. With this opening, the brand continues to expand its wine country-inspired dining experience across the Bay Area.
