Recent real estate intel obtained by What Now San Francisco reveals that a restaurant called Delirama has signed a lease at 1746 Solano Ave. in Berkeley. As it turns out, the project is a new deli concept from the team behind East Bay pop-ups Pyro’s Pastrami and Psychedelic Pizza, SF Chronicle reported first.
Chef Cash Caris and partner Anahita Cann started their Pyro’s Pastrami pop-up in October 2020, serving tender pastrami on fresh baked rye bread and housemade mustard. Caris, who also worked at a pizzeria, started pizza pop-up Psychedelic Pizza shortly after.
Now, their first brick-and-mortar will be a combination of the two concepts. Delirama will sell pastrami sandwiches, but there are plans to expand the menu with brisket, corned beef, and vegan smoked celeriac.
A deli case will feature cold cuts and salads sold by weight. They will also have New York-style pizza sold by the slice and whole pies. “I’ve wanted my own brick-and-mortar for 15 years. It’s crazy now that it’s actually happening. I can’t describe the feeling — and I can’t wait to open,” Caris tells the Chronicle, adding that they hope to do so by April.
Until then, Pyro’s Pastrami and Psychedelic Pizza will continue to pop-up through February. Follow Delirama’s Instagram account for updates.
