El Bombero 408, a fast-growing taqueria known for its traditional Mexican street food, is getting ready to open its fourth location in San Jose at 2108 Story Road.
The company’s newest site is set to replace the current home of Mariscos Las Islitas, according to a recent liquor license application. An official opening date has not been announced. Customers can expect the same menu staples that have defined El Bombero 408, including handmade tacos, quesabirrias, and birria ramen.
The brand currently operates three locations: Parkmoor Avenue and Monterey Road in San Jose, and a third in Fremont. Known for high-volume lunch and dinner crowds, each location offers dine-in, takeout, and catering services. With its expansion to Story Road, El Bombero 408 is continuing to increase its presence across the South Bay, particularly in high-traffic and densely populated neighborhoods.
El Bombero 408 has built a reputation for serving quality Mexican cuisine at accessible prices. The menu features a wide variety of meats, including carne asada, al pastor, chorizo, lengua, and campechanos, served in tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and tortas. Its catering services are also popular among customers planning events or celebrations.
The Story Road location offers strong visibility within East San Jose, an area known for its diverse population and established food scene. The space sits along a busy commercial corridor that supports both neighborhood foot traffic and destination dining.
Signature items include the Taco TJ, made with handmade tortillas, the crispy Doradillo, and the three-piece Quesabirria plate, served with a side of consommé. Other favorites include Birria Ramen, Super Burritos, Papas Locas, and customizable quesadillas with a choice of meat and toppings.
