El Porteño Empanadas is expanding operations with a new cafe. Located in South Beach at 700 2nd St., El Porteño will take over the former Cafe Lambretta space according to a pending beer and wine license found in state public records.

Owner Jospeh Ahearne tells What Now San Francisco that they are hoping to host a grand opening next week. They have quietly soft opened their new cafe, which will feature an expanded beverage service with coffee, beer, wine, as well as a yerba mate bar.

Unlike their permanent take-away outposts in the Ferry Building Marketplace and Napa’s Oxbow Public Market, customers will be able to sit-down and enjoy their food in the dining room. Ahearne adds that this location will offer a fuller menu with salads and other fare, in addition to their 12 empanada flavors, chimichurri sauce, dulces, and alfajores.

Next time you’re headed in or out of Oracle Park, consider stopping by for one of El Porteño’s delicious empanadas made with local ingredients, such as the Carne that uses Keller Crafted Meats’ grass-fed beef, or the Champiñones made with Far West Fungi mushrooms.
