Ethel’s Bagels is a weekend staple at a few farmers markets throughout the Bay Area. Soon, you’ll be able to visit their dedicated brick-and-mortar at 1000 Clegg Court in Petaluma, according to their announcement late last week

We can expect opening perhaps by this summer. Ethel’s Bagels writes, “For the next few months we’re gonna be schlepping, planning, cleaning, painting and cooking, but our schedule and offerings will stay the same.”

Fo now, you can find them every Saturday at Marin Country Mart Farmers Market, every Sunday at Kensington Farmers Market, and every other Friday at Grand Central Petaluma. Their bagels are also sold at various cafes and restaurants throughout the Bay Area.

During the pandemic shutdown, longtime chef Nicolas Abrams turned to home bagel making with his wife Clare, son Oliver, and daughter Freya. His passion for these round breakfast bites turned into a full-time business, in which he also sold babka and challah.

Ethel’s Bagels will enable the Abrams family to increase production, as well as expand the menu. The shop will double as a Jewish delicatessen serving items like matzoh ball soup and classic Rueben sandwiches, according to the Chronicle.

Ethel’s is named after Abrams’s grandmother and is inspired by the Jewish comfort food she served while he was growing up. For more information, visit www.ethelsbagels.com.
