Numerous Santa Cruz wharf restaurants have temporarily shuttered due to the infrastructure’s recent collapse, according to ABC7 — including Firefish Grill.

What Now San Francisco reached out to the concept’s owner, Mark Gilbert, to inquire about his plans going forward, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the restaurant, it offers a brief introduction on its website: “Firefish Grill on the Santa Cruz Wharf boasts a long history of fine dining, fresh seafood, and superb service with spectacular ocean views from every seat in the house.”

The statement continues, “Firefish, the brainchild of successful restaurateur, Mark Gilbert… Mark has been part of the Santa Cruz restaurant scene since 1980. He bought the venue that is now Firefish from his father, changed the name, renovated the interior, and revamped the menu. In the process, a performance kitchen was created so that Wharf visitors can see the food being grilled on a mesquite charcoal broiler, a feature not found in many local restaurants.”

Menu items range from starters such as oysters and calamari to chowders, salads, burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and seafood plates.

A reopening date has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for updates.
