Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chão recently announced that it has signed 12 new domestic and international leases and development agreements, one of which is in Emeryville. According to a recent report by SFGATEthe steakhouse will take over the spot previously occupied by P.F. Chang’s in the Bay Street Emeryville shopping mall.

For those who are unfamiliar, Fogo de Chão is an international steakhouse chain founded in 1979 in Southern Brazil. The eatery specializes in churrasco — a style of barbeque that involves cooking skewered meat over an open flame — and is known for having gaucho chefs carve the meat tableside. Menu items include steak, chicken, lamb, pork, seafood options, specialty salads, pasta, side dishes like polenta and garlic mashed potatoes, and dessert. For patrons interested in enjoying a plate of barbeque at home, the steakhouse also offers takeout, delivery, and catering.

According to the press release, restaurants rolled out in 2023 will feature “new and engaging social gathering spaces” like enclosed patios, rooftops, and lounges.

Leila Nojouki of Konnect Agency tells What Now San Francisco, “We anticipate that the location will be open by the end of the year.”
