Johnny Doughnuts, known for its handcrafted doughnuts made with locally sourced ingredients, is preparing to open a new location at Santana Row in San Jose.
The company’s newest shop will expand its Bay Area footprint, joining existing locations in San Francisco, San Rafael, Larkspur, and Santa Rosa, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal. While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, the move brings another dessert destination to Santana Row, alongside the upcoming Bacio di Latte, a gelato brand set to debut in early February. Customers can expect a full lineup of Johnny Doughnuts’ signature offerings, including raised, old-fashioned, and vegan varieties.
Founded on the principle of crafting doughnuts from scratch using 1920s-inspired recipes, Johnny Doughnuts has earned recognition from outlets like the Food Network and the San Francisco Chronicle for its inventive flavors and quality. The company emphasizes freshness, sourcing flour, dairy, and produce from local vendors, including Central Milling, Clover Dairy, and Marin-Sonoma Produce.
Each shop offers a wide selection of rotating flavors and styles, ranging from the classic raised doughnut to the cake-like Old Fashioned and the filled Bismarck. Vegan and wheat-free options are available, along with coffee and espresso drinks made with organic Equator beans. Their menu often features seasonal glazes and fillings based on available produce.
The Santana Row location is expected to offer the same experience found in Johnny Doughnuts’ other shops, with a focus on fun, freshness, and community. Doughnut enthusiasts can look forward to favorites like the Sprinkley Guy, Sugar Daddy, Maple Old Fashioned, and Apple Fritter, as well as newer items like the croissant-doughnut hybrid, Crodough.
With Santana Row continuing to evolve as a dining and shopping hub in the South Bay, Johnny Doughnuts’ arrival adds to the district’s growing list of food and beverage options catering to both locals and visitors.
