Kitava, a Modern American restaurant focused on real food and mindful ingredients, is set to open a new location in Walnut Creek at 1699 N California Boulevard.
The company’s fifth location will replace the former home of The Little Pear restaurant, according to a recent liquor license application. Co-founder Bryan Tublin tells What Now that the team is aiming for a late Spring 2026 opening. Customers can expect the same approachable menu featuring signature bowls, salads, and plant-forward dishes designed to be gluten-free, dairy-free, and free from refined sugars, along with some new items specific to the Walnut Creek location.
Kitava was founded to make nourishing food accessible and enjoyable, using whole ingredients sourced from local and sustainable vendors. Its menu emphasizes nutritious vegetables, mindful proteins, and healthy fats, offering flexible options for customers with dietary restrictions. The Walnut Creek location will continue this approach, serving bowls and salads, small plates, warm and cold sides, and ethically sourced beverages.
The restaurant has built a strong presence in the Bay Area with locations in San Francisco, Oakland, Albany (North Berkeley), and San Francisco Airport (SFO). This expansion reflects Kitava’s ongoing growth as demand for clean, casual, and flavorful meals continues to rise.
Kitava’s bowls and salads are customizable, allowing customers to select their base, proteins, vegetables, sauces, and toppings. Signature offerings include the Sweet Plantain Bowl with jasmine rice, plantains, cumin beans, kale slaw, avocado, and romesco sauce, as well as warm sides such as charred broccoli, sweet potatoes, and za’atar cauliflower. Plant-forward and protein-based options are available, including plant protein patties, grilled chicken, picadillo beef, and sustainably sourced salmon.
The Walnut Creek restaurant will feature Kitava’s health-forward philosophy, which centers on accessible, nourishing meals made with clean ingredients and full transparency in sourcing. The brand’s co-founders, Bryan and Jeff, say the location will continue to reflect the company’s values of sustainability, quality, and approachability, while providing a welcoming space for customers seeking healthy, satisfying meals.
