The original Liholiho Yacht Club at 871 Sutter Street in Lower Nob Hill has been undergoing renovations during the last year, according to SFist

Eater San Francisco reported that, as of July, Liholiho was aiming for a mid-October reopening. The official restaurant website currently says “reopening by November.”

Liholiho transitioned to takeout during the pandemic, before reopening in the spring of 2021 in a space at Nob Hill’s 18th Street. This location is now home to its sibling restaurant Good Good Culture Club.

Liholiho is co-owned by Chef Ravi Kapur, known for his homemade SPAM and short rib steam buns. According to the restaurant’s website, “Chef Ravi Kapur has been a professional Chef for more than 20 years. Kapur was born in Hawaii to his Native Hawaiian-Chinese Mother and Father from India. The flavors of his diverse food cultures, together with his upbringing in Hawaii, have cultivated his palate DNA – a treasure he draws from to create his unique and delicious food.”

SFist reports, “it remains unclear whether Liholiho’s bar within-the-restaurant, the downstairs hideaway Louie’s Gen-Gen Room, will be coming back in a form similar to its pre-pandemic form.”

A firm reopening date has not been announced. What Now San Francisco was unable to contact the owners by the time of publication.
