A Short and Memorable Journey
Bearing West Bar and Galley was established by two restaurateurs, John Giuffre and Jeff Hanford. They have a vision of developing an inclusive place where quality food and drinks will unite the community.
The place offers a blend of classic seafood, cocktails, and a welcoming atmosphere by the coast.
The menu centers on fresh, sustainably sourced seafood and coastal dishes. Diners can select from raw oysters and littleneck clams on the half shell, prawn and crab cocktails, hearty bowls of clam chowder, cioppino full of shellfish, and Baja-style fish tacos.
Main dishes like fish and chips, crab cakes, and shrimp Louie salads are served with sides such as garlic fries, deviled eggs, and crispy artichoke hearts. In addition to the food, Bearing West provided a customized bar service with original cocktails, local beers, and wines.
As the Bay Area dining industry continues to change, Bearing West’s closure is another example of the industry’s volatility. Community members are encouraged to visit and support their neighborhood restaurants while they last the industrial headwinds.
