According to KRON, Los Angeles-based Korean fried chicken chain Chimmelier has soft-opened its first Bay Area spot.
In Berkeley’s Thousand Oaks neighborhood, the eatery has landed at 1823 Solano Avenue, a spot formerly home to Bopshop Korean Kitchen, near establishments such as Lavender Bakery & Cafe, Oh G Burger, and Zachary’s Chicago Pizza.
“We’re finally coming to the Bay!” Chimmelier shares on Instagram — “After an incredible turnout at our first popup in May (over 1,000 tickets sold in just 2 days!), we’re excited to announce the opening of Chimmelier’s FIRST brick-and-mortar in the Bay Area!”
For readers who are unfamiliar with the concept, “Chimmelier started in Los Angeles’ Koreatown at 2500 W 8th St. as the only other brick-and-mortar location. It is also a vendor at the Smorgasburg food market. Chimmelier has more than 20,000 followers on Instagram. It was named one of the best fried chicken spots in Koreatown by the Los Angeles Times,” KRON summarizes.
