Maison Verbena, a San Francisco–based French-inspired gift atelier and bakery known for candles, soaps, and pastries, is preparing to open a new flagship boutique at 437 Hayes Street in Hayes Valley.
The Hayes Valley location will occupy two suites previously used by Zero& and Amour Vert, totaling approximately 1,300 square feet on the ground floor of a historic three-story building built in 1907, according to the San Francisco Business Times. Maison Verbena’s Ferry Building lease for Suite #36 expires January 10, 2026, after which products will continue temporarily at the Village Market inside the Ferry Building. The new flagship is planned to open in multiple phases starting in Spring 2026. Customers can expect retail offerings, bakery pastries, coffee, tea, and a Type 41 beer-and-wine program.
Founded by Derek Jin and Ricardo Sison, Maison Verbena previously operated a 2,000-square-foot flagship in downtown Napa before closing that location. The company has maintained a presence in the Ferry Building throughout the pandemic, becoming a recognized destination for both artisanal pastries and luxury home products. Maison Verbena’s expansion to Hayes Valley reflects a strategic move into a neighborhood known for boutique retail and food culture.
The Hayes Valley building is a designated historic contributor, featuring original architectural details including high ceilings, period moldings, and woodwork, which may influence construction timelines. Maison Verbena plans to blend retail, bakery, and lifestyle offerings in this space, creating a unique boutique environment where customers can shop, dine, and experience French-inspired artisanal products.
Planned products include Maison Verbena’s signature candles and soaps, fashion and luxury books, and pastries such as macarons, cruffins, croissants, ube crinkles, and fashion cakes. Coffee will be sourced from Sightglass, tea from Bellocq, and hot chocolate will use Thomas Keller’s cooking chocolate, reflecting founder Ricardo Sison’s culinary training under Keller. Retail brands such as Assouline, SRHY Seoul Korea, Apolis, Trudon, Diptyque, and Maison Margiela will also be featured.
Maison Verbena continues to expand its footprint beyond San Francisco, with plans for an international Atelier Bakery concept in Seoul, South Korea, slated for summer 2027.
The founders shared in a letter to customers: “We are also beyond delighted to announce the opening of our first flagship boutique outside the Ferry Building: Arriving Spring 2026: Maison Verbena at the Historic Victorian House, 437 Hayes Valley. This will be the first concept of its kind in the United States. In this intimate space, we will weave together scent, food, wine, beer, craft, indulgence, and the poetry of daily ritual; a place where time slows, senses heighten, and the spirit of Maison Verbena is experienced in its purest form.”
