According to a recent Type 41 ABC license filed with the State of California, “Ma Lu Bian Bian Hot Pot” is coming to Milpitas. The restaurant will take over the former TK Noodle that stood at 1792 N. Milpitas Blvd.

Based on the timing of this source, one might guess that the new restaurant will open in early 2022. While the name on the license is stated as above, we’re guessing that this is the same restaurant as Malubianbian, which originated in Chengdu, China.

The restaurant became a cult favorite among locals, focusing on skewer-style hot pot that was inspired by Chengdu street food. Malubianbian opened its first U.S. location in 2019 in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California, followed by a Houston outpost that debuted earlier this year.

Malubianbian allows customers to customize their entire meal, from creating their own sauces, selecting their own broths, and choosing from a wide variety of skewered meats and veggies to cook at their leisure. The owner of this Milpitas restaurant has been contacted, but hasn’t yet responded to our inquiries at the time of publication.
