Manresa Bread is opening its fourth location in Palo Alto at 855 El Camino Real. It will be Town & Country Village’s newest tenant, moving into a space that previously belonged to Mayfield Bakery. While representatives for Manresa Bread declined to comment, the San Francisco Chronicle confirmed the news early Wednesday.

Manresa Bread is the brainchild of Avery Ruzicka, who is a 2020 James Beard finalist. Ruzicka started out as a food runner in the three-Michelin-star Manresa under Chef David Kinch, who is known for serving exquisite farm-to-table meals. While working there, Ruzicka was inspired to create the best versions of classic breads and pastries, using only high-quality artisanal and local ingredients.

The result was Manresa Bakery, where the high standard for ingredients translates to milling their own flours and importing their own wheat berries and ancient grains. Ruzicka opened the first bakery in Los Gatos to phenomenal success, which led to a second bakery in downtown Los Gatos and a cafe in Campbell, in addition to shipping products nationwide. It remains unclear for the time being whether this fourth Palo Alto location will also be a cafe or a walk-in bakery.
